The Statue of Liberty was something I didn't really think about wanting to see up close. I will openly admit that I am ashamed of being unconcerned with the experience. Because floating by on the ferry, approaching it, and focusing in on it's proud solitude was overwhelming. While I am not proud of what my country stands for a lot of the time, I can imagine for others it is a dream come true.
Finally I visit your blog :) Impressed. This pic and your writing caught my attention. I recall being on that ferry the very first time years ago. Cynical...thinking to myself...what am I doing?? Rolling my eyes at all who were flashing their cameras...Why was I being a typical tourist?? I'm never a typical tourist..lol. But, yeah...the closer the ferry approached her all I could think of was my great grandfather coming into this country with a dream. :)
